Bundesliga Weekend Fixtures and Table

The top of the Bundesliga table,  matchday 12 will not be settled until  Sunday.  Schalke 04 and Hanover 96 go head to head, while Bayern Muenchen will be visiting Augsburg on Sunday.   Bayern, which has presently 25 points will be starting without their midfield director, Bastian Schweinsteiger, who suffered a collar bone injury in this weeks Champions League match against Napoli.  Schalke and Hanover 96 are both competitors in the Euro League.

Last years champion Borussia Dortmund occupies third spot and will meet VFL Wolfsburg on Saturday.  Wolfsburg occupies a bottom half spot at the time will try to make up ground against third placed Dortmund.  Dortmund will do all to spoil Wolfsburg effort and maintain contact with the top spot.

Mainz 05, which has had a difficult start after last season's relative success, has had difficulties building on that initial success.  The team will host VFB Stuttgart on Saturday, which is trying to break into the top 6 and a Euro League qualifying spot.

SC Freiburg, which presently holds the bottom spot in the league will be traveling to Nuernberg
hoping to pick up three points, while hoping that  Mainz, Augsburg and Hamburglose their respective games.

As the season approaches the halfway point, the top and bottom of the league is starting to line up and there is definitely going to be a contest for the top 6 and avoidance of the relegation spots 16-18.  The middle of the pack is not in the clear either.  Only six spots separate 18th place Freiburg from 12th placed VFL Wolfsburg.  Who said the Bundesliga was not exciting.
